A Week in DC: Learning, Collaboration, and a Surprise

Back in July, I traveled to Washington, DC for Marriott International’s Power of M Workshop. But first I made sure to start the trip off right. I flew in a day early to catch a Washington Nationals baseball game and cross another MLB stadium off my list. Anytime my travels involve baseballit’s a win.

The workshop officially kicked off on Monday with an opening reception, but before that, I had the chance to take a tour of Marriott Headquarters. While walking through the brand displays, I stumbled on something completely unexpected: the Renaissance Nashville Hotel front desk, representing the Renaissance brand. Seeing a piece of “home” in the middle of Marriott HQ was a fun surprise .

From Tuesday through Friday morning, the workshop was packed with learning, collaboration, and insightful discussions about upcoming operational changes across the company. It was a great opportunity to both contribute feedback and gain a deeper look into what’s ahead.

Overall, the week was the perfect mix of professional development, networking, and a few personal highlights.
