Hospitality,  Just for Fun

The Last Dance Meets the Hospitality World

Left and right sports canceled. ESPN decided to save the day. The anticipated release of the docu-series The Last Dance was moved from June to April. The sports world rejoiced. Deprived fans got their sunshine on a cloudy day.

The series features Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls’ dynasty of the 1990s. It specifically gives an in-depth look at the 1997-98 championship team.

I’m an Indiana kid. I’m a Pacers fan. That’s just how it works. It’s Miller Time and Boom Baby are music to my ears. As much I love the Pacers, I can’t deny I was Jordan fan.

A 10-part series broken up over 5 weeks, I’ve been hooked watching the 4 episodes so far. The footage and the stories have been incredible.

So what does this have to do with hospitality?

I started my hospitality career working at the front desk. One aspect of the job is giving out directions–restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. Guests look for ways to make the best of their visits.

Sometimes they arrive at the wrong hotel and you have to give them directions. No problem right?

Usually. But occasionally not so easy.

Dennis Rodman appeared in episode 3. He perfectly explained what it’s like to give directions in downtown Indianapolis.
